June 2023 | Tales From The Jungle
Hello again, dear Sloth Supporter!
I hope this newsletter finds you well! As summer arrives in the Northern Hemisphere and the South enjoys winter days, our little corner of Costa Rica is currently experiencing the rainy season. Whether it’s sunny or rainy, we continue to carry on with all of our projects! Are you ready to dive into this month’s news?
Team Sloth goes to La Selva!
This month, we had an important expedition to La Selva, a renowned Biological and Research Station and Reserve, where we collaborated with our colleagues from Brow University to collect samples and put GPS collars on sloths. You can find detailed information about our research and time there on our blog!

We are excited to announce the ticket sale for our fundraising event, Hanging Out for Sloths! We want to give our heartfelt thanks to Beaumont Farms for their generous venue donation!
To the Heart of the Jungle!
In other news, we have moved to a new Sloth HQ! Previously located near the beach at Playa Negra since 2020, we are now situated in the heart of the jungle, next to Gandoca-Manzanillo Wildlife Reserve. Our new office brings us closer to the primary forest, offering more wildlife sightings and less traffic!
Check out our latest blogs!
We celebrated Sea Turtle Day by comparing sloths and sea turtles in our Versus Series. Do you know what these two have in common?
We also address frequently asked questions about the collars and backpacks we use to track and monitor sloths, discussing their advantages, disadvantages, and impact on sloth behavior and comfort (spoiler alert: they don’t affect them!).
On World Rainforest Day, June 22, we emphasize the seven gifts rainforests provide to humanity. We also shed light on how desertification and drought impact sloths on World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought, on June 17.
